The Depth of my Heart

If you ask me who is the person that I am most thankful for on the earth, then I'd answer immediately, “My friend, Yao-Hua.” She introduced me to her most dear, near, beloved, and trust-worthy Lord during our four years as classmates. By her boundless love and endless patience I, an aggressive pursuer of Buddhism and Taoism like I was became a Christian. “If you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord, and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you shall be saved.” (Romans 10:9)

I was a person filled with anger and bitterness. I was also proud because sometimes my writings were published in newspapers and magazines. I was proud, but also empty and hopeless. There was a great change in me when I started to eat the bread of life (John 6:48), drink of the water of life (Revelation 22:17), and rest in Him--the harbor and spring of love. Because of this, my parents changed from opposing the Lord to becoming Christians. They also love and desire to read the Bible every day, and call upon the name of the Lord in all things (Romans 10:12-13).

If you ask me which day is the most significant day in my life, I say it is January 12, 1969. That is the day I entered into the kingdom of God. I was regenerated (born anew) and received the uncreated, eternal life of God (John 10:10). “Jesus answered, Truly, truly, I say to you, Unless one is born of water and the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God.” (John 3:5) This is indeed true.

I am over fifty years old now. As I look back to what has happened on this earth, I feel that they were like dreams and a vapor. Ecclesiastes 12:12 says, “of making many books there is no end; and much study is a weariness of the flesh.” Ecclesiantes1:2 says, “Vanity of vanities, all is vanity”. However, my days in the kingdom of God have been full of joy and reality (Romans 14:17). With His presence and overseeing every day. He guided each step with His pierced hands. There has been the shining and correction of His light of life (John 8:12) everywhere. My Lord, I love You more and more each day. I believe You more and more each day. Amen.
